Mani Boxes

Here's a wonderful new way to support Bhakha Tulku Rinpoche's Zuni Mountain Stupa project and get something beautiful for yourself or to give as a gift.

Stan and Shirley Giser, long time students of Rinpoche, are donating the land for Rinpoche's retreat center and the building of the "Great Stupa." in New Mexico. The Gisers are artists who specialize in intricate inlay work using exotic hardwoods.

The Gisers are creating exquisite boxes adorned with the Mani mantra. The mantra is traced from Rinpoche's beautiful calligraphy and then rendered in exotic hardwoods as a box top.

In order to help raise funds for the stupa and retreat center the Gisers will donate 50% of the purchase price to the project.

Like all of the Gisers work, these pieces are made with painstaking attention to detail and craftsmanship. They are very finely finished and are rounded and sensual to the touch. Each one contains a complete list of the woods used to create it.

The box pictured above is 12" wide, 7" deep and 3-3/4" tall. The lid is hinged. The main wood is Arrariba. The mantra is in Birdseye maple surrounded by Purpleheart. Inside is a sliding tray made of a variety of exotic woods. This box is large enough to hold 10" incense and many shrine implements or personal treasures. It would serve well as a portable shrine with the lid open and the tray used for a shelf. It is priced at $250.

The first box below is 8" wide, 6"deep, and 5" tall. The lid is hinged. The main wood is Shedua. The mantra is in Birdseye maple surrounded by Paduak. This box is deep and will be useful for holding anything from recipe cards to small rupas or other treasures. It is priced at $150.

The second box below is 7" wide, 5" deep and 3-3/4" tall. The lid is fitted and lifts off. The main wood is Zebrawood. The mantra is in Birdseye maple and is surrounded by Paduak. It is a perfect keepsake box and is priced at $125.00.

If you are interested in purchasing a box or have any questions or special requirements please call the Gisers at 505-783-4320 or email at wooddesignsbygiser@7cities.net.
